What is EMV?

EMV - What is it?:

  • EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa.  It is an existing global standard for inter-operation of integrated circuit cards (IC cards or "Chip cards) and Chip capable ATM's and Chip capable POS terminals for authenicating credit and debit transactions.

Why do I need EMV?

The EMV Chip card standard is here to stay.  If your ATM machine is not equipped with the new EMV chip card readers then you will be exposing yourself to a potentially big liability in the event fruadulent cards are used at the ATM.  Currently, you have Zero liability if someone used your ATM with a lost or stolen card - but on OCTOBER 1, 2016 onward, you will be if your ATM is not EMV ready.

It is highly advisable for you to contact us to see if your ATM is EMV ready or not.  Prepare for delays as the entire country is going through this change process.  Early adopters will avoid the line ups and potential fraud losses.

Failing to do this upgrade can ultimately have a direct impact on your pocket - its just a matter of time.  Fraud happens daily and in the billions annually.  So far, you have been shielded from it and you just don't see it - but it's there.

REMEMBER - LIABILITY SHIFTS TO YOU STARTING OCTOBER 1, 2016.
